Benefits of Steam

Have you ever considered the benefits of steam?  If you've ever tried one you know they feel fantastic but have you ever stopped to wonder why? 


Steam rooms can have a soothing effect as they are a relaxing, quiet environment to unwind.  It is thought that steam helps you to sleep better at night and helps your muscles recover when they are sore.  Entering a steam room is truly a decadent experience, where you can shut away the world and lay back and relax for 20-30 minutes.  Steam is also good for your skin as it opens up the pores and cleans away impurities.  Make sure to use a good quality moisturizer after you leave the steam room or shower to lock in the benefits.


Steam can help you feel better when you have a cold.  By sitting in a steam room, it can help to clear your sinuses which will reduce pain.  Some steam rooms/showers have the ability to add your own scented oils and by adding a touch of eucalyptus it can aid in clearing congestion and eucalyptus is thought to loosen mucus helping you breathe better.  You should exercise caution when using eucalyptus as it can cause side effects such as headache, nausea, tiredness, dizziness, and nasal discomfort and irritation.   Always talk to your doctor before trying a new remedy.


At one time, enjoying a steam room meant going to the gym or spa however new affordable steam showers are both a shower and steam room making it much easier to enjoy the benefits of steam at home.
